Dice and Custom orders
almost 2 years ago – Tue, Nov 06, 2018 at 12:47:37 AM

Ok, I've approved the multiset and sent the deposit. This version of the dice is a lot more than I was originally quoted (by different manufacturers who later fell through), so it's eaten up the contingencies I worked into the budget and then some.

Money is very tight at the moment, partly through delays and partly through stuff like the dice and needing to change manufacturers (meaning higher production costs). I'll be covering as much of the extra costs out of my own money as possible, but I'll need to reopen some custom order slots to help keep the lights on so to speak. I'm hoping the christmas rush will help clear out some spare stock we have, and bring in some more funds to keep us going. So if you see some of my pieces available please please please don't think I've forgotten you. We're still working on the campaign rewards, I'm just doing extra on top to try and ease the funds a bit.

Any new custom orders I take on will be at a higher price, the lower kickstarter prices were exclusive to the campaign (except the rainbows, which are exclusive to the campaign and the preorders), so others aren't getting a better deal than you lovely folks.

I really didn't want to reopen custom orders just yet, but at this point I feel like it's the best choice. I'm committed to finishing this project and making sure you lovely folks get your little beasties as soon as possible.

Remember, if you want to switch to a multiset, the sooner you let me know the better. Via kickstarter message or backerkit support is best for security.

They look even better in your hand than in the photos.

I did notice some of the inking is a bit light, I'm going to address that with the manufacturer, but apart from that I think we'll be going ahead with the multisets.

In terms of price, here's what I'm thinking:

$20 NZD for a multiset (for preorders after today)

$17 NZD for a multiset (for existing backers)

In terms of shipping fees, I'll need to finetune them a bit, but this is roughly what I have in mind.

One multiset as an add on (prices in NZD)-

NZ - 2.00

AU - 3.00

US/CA - 3.00

EU - 5.00

Everywhere else - 5.00

One multiset on it's own

NZ - $12.00

AU - $15.00

US, CA - 18.00

EU - $20.00

Everywhere else - $20.00

The shipping rates are a bit different to the sets of D20s or D6s because the multisets are classed as one item so the processing fees are different. With a set of 6 D6s, they charge for each D6 they have to pick up and count, but if the multisets come prepacked it's only one 'item' they have to pick and pack, which hopefully means slightly cheaper shipping costs. Again, if you want several multisets or you have a big bundle already, get in touch and I can try to work out a cheaper shipping cost.

To get the lower price, I will need people to contact me via kickstarter or backerkit support, and I will manually update any orders that were in before today. If you want to switch from an existing dragon dice reward to this new one, the money you have already paid will of course count towards it.

I got these photos five minutes ago. On the left are the dice I sent as a sample of the sort of colour I was looking for, on the right is the manufacturers sample.

Now, the detail of the engraving does diminish on the smaller faces, and I still need to check them out in person (they're being sent to me next week, hopefully they'll arrive quickly), but at a glance I think they look pretty awesome.

The cost of doing a run of multisets is a lot more than the quotes I originally received, but at this stage, all things going well (fingers, toes, eyes, knees, arms, and heart crossed) I think it's worth doing. If everything checks out when I have the sample in hand I'll sort out prices and put out an update so anyone who wants to add a multiset (or switch to a multiset from their D6s or D20s) can let me know and I'll make the changes manually in backerkit.
